World's largest selling CityBike
Long before the recent North American interest in CityBikes there was
Flying Pigeon.
Black, sturdy, and with rod-connected brakes the Flying Pigeon has
been the bicycle of choice - well maybe not much choice - for China.
With over 75,000,000 sold since 1949 they have served as basic
transportation and beast of burden for much of the population.
There is nothing high-tech or sporty about these bikes, but frame
enthusiasts will appreciate (or not) the double top tube design. A
feature now only found in a few custom made North American bikes.
These bikes may not be fancy, but they do seem durable.
This cheery video shows happy people riding their Flying Pigeon's in
the sun.
