shipping and payment in italy?

sorry that i ask in english.

Iam working on a shopsystem and iam looking for
or better iam interested in the following information
about
SMALL Webshops
(not amazon or so, more the webshop from your neighbour.

How do people in italy
- pay in small webshops?
- ship orders?

In germany its common to send the money via "bank transfer" from one 
(provate)bankaccount to another and that have to be done yourself after 
you buy something in a webshop. That means you get the bank-informations 
after you order and then send the money
Most goods are shipped as parcel via dhl (deutsche post)

How does it work in italy?
Like in german or did you use paypal, creditcard or so...

Please answer in english... i only know ciao in italian ;)
